What happens if only BSL performers sign are only ones left performing when the character's are 30's year old?
Or what happens if this is the only time the double character's Clare Hearing and BSL are performing in sync?
Is it possible to perform scenes at same time on stage and be in sync in both speaking performance and that with BSL?
In this scene, Outside Mags and Josie's House performers play in essence 3 characters each, Clare and Emma when young, Clare and Emma when 30 and Mags and Josie.
I felt there there may be promise in exploring as part of scene transitions and when moving between a scene when there is a BSL Clare in one scene and then in the next Clare is played by hearing performer that there are some scenes where they end with a short monologue by Clare in her 30's. This is something to be explored further in next phase of R & D.
In relation to working on the nuances of working in sync with one another. It felt difficult at this stage because all performers were not yet off book. Therefore it was really important for the next phase for further exploration of what is possible that performers be off book on scenes working on to explore further potential of working in this way. There was definitely some promise and potential for this.
Having had a very productive first few days including this day. We found that although working bi-lingually was exhausting, that working in this way, working on scenes in many different configurations was particularly taxing but still exciting and interesting.
